Super soft but don't seem to go the distance

My asd kid has had a spell of extreme sensitivity with clothing, particularly socks. These were the only pair I could find she would wear. They're very soft and firm stretch for comfort and security. Still some niggles around the toe seam but largely a success. However, we found they pill after wearing a few weeks and also threads get pulled, which makes them unusable for our needs. If they were a bit more durable at the price, they'd be 5 stars.
